Daily Schedule:
Every day the students will come into class and put their backpacks, coats, and lunch boxes away. The students will also take out their homework folders and bring it back to their desks with them. For those students who bring their lunch to school, I have a container for all the students to store their lunch boxes until lunch time. For those students who are purchasing hot lunch, they will make their lunch choice and then go sit down. Every day I will make sure to check every students folder and check that their homework is completed. In their folders, there is a notebook sheet of paper to write me a note for anything you think I will need to know, such as medication information, whose picking your student up from school, or information about how your student is doing that day.
The students will have Reading and Writing in the morning. During this time, we will do our Daily 5. I have included a tab for you to reference what Daily 5 entails. Each day the students will also have one of their specials in the morning; either Art, Music, or PE. In the afternoon the students will have Social Studies or Science and Math. I generally like to give the students a second recess for about 10 minutes in the afternoon after they have worked hard on their math.
The students will learn that during work time they are supposed to be working independently and not talking with their neighbor. I will also have the students work in groups or partners often, where they know that they are allowed to be working with the assigned group members.
When it is time to go, I will call students who show me they are ready by sitting patiently to come and get their homework folders, backpacks, coats, and lunch boxes. At this time I will have the students line up by how they are going home; bus, cars/walkers, and after school program. I will send the students who are taking the bus home to where the busses are located, and I will walk the students who are getting picked up by an designated adult outside the front of the building. The students are required to say goodbye to me and show me who they are going home with to ensure their safety. The students who are part of the after school program will be allowed to go straight their meeting spot after school.
