Daily 5
There are 4 parts to the Daily 5:
During the first weeks of school, the students and I will create charts that show what exactly students and the teacher should be doing during the parts listed above. After creating each list we will have lots of practice. Will will start with Read to Self and work on building our stamina during the beginning weeks. After the students truly understand the task at hand I will begin working with small groups to enhance all of the students learning. Each day the students will get the opportunity to participate in each of these four parts.
The idea behind the Daily 5 is to be a student-driven management structure which ultimately helps the students become fully engaged in reading and writing.
